Stretching and Breathing in Brown County

Last night I had the opportunity to teach yoga within the rotunda of the Brown County Courthouse.  The event was sponsored by the Current Young Professionals Network as part of their Discover Greater Green Bay Series.  To be honest, I was a little nervous about the venue. Government buildings can feel austere and drafty…maybe not the best space for yoga.

But much to my surprise, our group showed up to a beautifully lit, warm space to practice.  As we stretched and moved with mindfulness, there was time to enjoy the gilded dome and late-19th century Beaux Arts interior.  A lovely quiet surrounded the group that helped us relax and let go of the days’ stressors.

More than anything, while teaching, this experience brought me back to Wello’s mission of putting the “we” in well-being.  Sharing a yoga class with others in a space that literally holds our civic traditions of our community brought me home to the power of connection.
