Wello Partners With Resource Centers for Well-Being Clinics

If I asked you to imagine smelling burgers and pork chops being cooked on a grill, music playing and people dancing, children throwing a football around, and people filling up bags with local sweet potatoes, carrots and other produce, you probably wouldn’t guess that this was the scene for people waiting to get their COVID-19 vaccine. But it is.
Wello’s latest community collaboration to improve the health and well-being of all in Brown County comes in the form of a partnership with Community Services Agency Inc. (COMSA), We All Rise: African American Resource Center, and Prevea to host well-being clinics. This project leverages trusted community resource centers and an established process to continue to build trust, have open communication and conversation about the COVID-19 vaccine as well as other health concerns within the Black, African American, Somali, and refugee populations.
Attendees at these well-being clinics can speak with Community Well-being Navigators who are nursing students from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) that are on-site to answer questions, provide additional health resources, and help build relationships during the clinics. In addition, this project purchases local products from farmers and businesses to provide to attendees. The most recent clinic at We All Rise offered sweet potatoes, carrots, eggs, pico de gallo, cheese sticks, and syrup from local food hub Seasonal Harvest LLC. and beard, hair, and skin products from Favoryt Brand.
By hosting these clinics at the resource centers, providing produce and products, and having Community Well-Being Navigators that are representative of the populations these clinics are directed towards, this project aims to build a local framework to address health and well-being of the whole individual and community centered on trust and relationships that results in vaccinations.
