Gearing Up for the 2023 Farmers’ Market Season and a Look Back to Last Year

Farmers' market season is here!

Our partners at OnBroadway and Downtown Green Bay start this week, the Market on Military starts June 1st, and the Oneida Farmers Market begins on June 15th. We thank these markets for their continued partnership in helping to ensure all residents have access to local produce by accepting EBT and incentives like Double Your Bucks.

Double Your Bucks (DYB), a program sponsored by Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) since 2014, increases access to fresh fruits and vegetables for FoodShare users. When families use Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) at local farmers markets, they are able to purchase more locally grown fruits and vegetables by doubling the first $10 of their EBT dollars.

Collaborating with local farmers markets and vendors, this program works by providing FoodShare users specially designed market currency that can be used like cash with eligible vendors. In 2022, there was a total of $43,121 invested in these four local markets through these programs.

Wishing all of our partners a great market season! You can learn more about how these programs work at our Farmers Market Information page.
